About Us
Our Mission is to Empower the African Diaspora in Finland
Our story

Think Africa was founded in 2014 by members of both the African diaspora and Finns in Finland who wanted a community space that was truly rooted in lived experience, shared ambition, and collective support.
Over the years, Think Africa has grown into a nationally recognised organisation working across career development, culture, entrepreneurship, community life, and civic engagement.
Our mission remains the same: build a Finland where the African diaspora is seen, valued, connected, and equipped to shape the future.
What that journey has made possible
Mission and vision
To empower the African diaspora in Finland through community building, career development, advocacy, and cultural celebration — creating a society where every member is recognised, valued, and active.
A Finland where the African diaspora is not just present but shaping the future — in boardrooms, classrooms, creative spaces, and communities across the country.
What we stand for
Every decision we make is rooted in the needs and voices of our community. We are led by the diaspora, for the diaspora.
We believe every person deserves to feel at home. We create spaces where people are seen, heard, and celebrated.
We invest in people — their careers, businesses, ideas, and wellbeing because a stronger community makes a stronger Finland.
We speak up. We engage with institutions, challenge inequities, and ensure the diaspora's voice is present where it matters most.
We celebrate African heritage in all its diversity through events, storytelling, art, and the everyday pride of our members.
We build bridges between communities, institutions, and generations because the strongest futures are built together.
